Discover Trail - Etapa Marumbi

The Discover Trail 2026 - Etapa Marumbi is a premier trail running event celebrating its 11th year, scheduled for Sunday, May 17, 2026, in the scenic region of Porto de Cima, Morretes. Located approximately 75km from Curitiba, the race takes place within the Pico do Marumbi State Park, a protected conservation area. This stage is part of a four-step individual circuit held throughout the Greater Curitiba region, emphasizing environmental preservation and technical trail challenges.

A critical requirement for this event is self-sufficiency; because the race traverses a protected environmental zone, there are no hydration stations along the course. Participants are strictly required to carry their own water. The registration fee includes the mandatory conservation unit entry tax as per state regulations. Finishers are rewarded with participation medals, and trophies are awarded to top performers across various categories during the post-race ceremonies starting at 10:30 AM.

Morretes is a historic town in the state of Paraná, founded in 1733, and is famous for its preserved colonial architecture and traditional "Barreado" cuisine. The region is nestled between the Serra do Mar mountains and the coast, making it a hub for ecotourism and adventure sports. The Pico do Marumbi State Park, where the race is held, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a biosphere reserve, known for its rugged peaks and dense Atlantic Forest vegetation. This unique geography provides runners with high-humidity conditions and technical terrain consisting of slippery rocks and steep ascents characteristic of the coastal mountain range.

Logistically, kit pickup is held on the Friday and Saturday preceding the event at the Procorrer store in Curitiba. On the day of the race, event gates open at 7:00 AM, with limited kit delivery available specifically for athletes residing outside of the Curitiba metropolitan area. The central hub for the event is the Praça de Porto de Cima. Participants can customize their experience by adding optional items to their "Slim Kit," such as high-performance polyamide shirts, personalized socks, or mugs, ensuring a personalized memento of their journey through the Marumbi wilderness.
