The Duathlon Gâtinais-Val de Loing is a thrilling event organized by the Vélo-Club Sulpicien in partnership with the town of Souppes-sur-Loing. This race welcomes both licensed and non-licensed athletes who are born on or before 2010 for individual participation, while relay teams must include members born on or before 2011.
Participants will need to provide a copy of their license along with either a medical certificate valid within the last year stating they can compete in sports events, or a completed and signed QS-SPORT health questionnaire. The event is designed to challenge athletes across various disciplines but also emphasizes safety and fair play. Cyclists are required to wear helmets at all times during both competition and training, while drafting behind other racers is allowed except for the motorcycles used by race officials.
The Duathlon offers two categories: individual competitors and relay teams of two members each. Early bird pricing starts at €25 for individuals until September 15th, increasing to €30 from September 16th through October 30th, with on-site registration costing €35. Relay team fees are slightly higher but follow the same timeline: €30 early sign-up and €40 on race day.
Cyclists will have access to a secure bike park starting at noon for setup before the event officially begins. Bicycles must be of "Time Trial" type, with electric-assisted bikes strictly prohibited. The atmosphere is one of camaraderie among competitors as they navigate through scenic routes around Souppes-sur-Loing.
Winners will receive commemorative trophies or cups, but it's important to note that being present at the podium ceremony is mandatory for prize collection.
