About the Event

Returning for its third year, the Lostwithiel Trail Race now joins the prestigious Cornwall MTRS series. This 5-mile mixed terrain race begins and concludes at The Duchy of Cornwall Nursery in Lostwithiel, offering runners an exhilarating journey through diverse landscapes.
Starting promptly at 9:30am, participants will face a challenging route that is roughly 90% trail with over 1000 feet of elevation gain. From the nursery grounds, you'll dive into a swift descent into a picturesque valley before climbing up to Restormel Castle, an English Heritage site offering breathtaking panoramic views.
The castle loop adds historical charm and scenic beauty as runners navigate through its surroundings. The route then leads back down into Restormel Woods where participants will circle around the town of Lostwithiel, passing by the charming River Fowey before heading back up to the nursery grounds.
A unique feature of this race is a private woodland section exclusive to this event, adding an extra layer of adventure and exclusivity. The finish line awaits at Woodland Terrace Tepee, where all participants will receive a commemorative medal upon crossing it.
Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female runners as well as age category winners with additional spot prizes along the way. A percentage of entry fees is donated to Mind Cornwall (@Cornwallmind.org) in support of mental health initiatives.
With limited parking available, car-sharing is highly encouraged for a smooth race day experience. The event has a generous two-hour cut-off time and features no bag drop facilities or cup service stations.
Participants must be at least 18 years old to enter this thrilling adventure through Cornwall's natural beauty and historical landmarks.
