Dive into the scenic beauty of West Virginia at the EHQ Valley Falls 6 & 12 Hour race! This endurance challenge offers runners an unforgettable trail experience with stunning views and diverse terrain. Set within the serene landscape of Valley Falls State Park, this event invites participants to explore over 5 miles of rugged trails featuring gravel roads, single-track paths, rocky climbs, rolling hills, and picturesque streams. The course boasts a significant elevation gain of approximately 750 feet per loop, making it both challenging and rewarding. Each lap is meticulously marked for easy navigation as runners traverse through the park's natural beauty. The race follows a clockwise route in odd-numbered years, ensuring consistency and familiarity with previous editions. For those looking to push their limits alongside friends, new relay options are available this year: two-person teams for the 6-hour event and four-person teams for the 12-hour challenge. Early registrants can secure shirts on race day by signing up before April 9th, while extra shirts from past years may be available at a first-come basis. Aid stations will provide essential hydration with electrolyte-infused water, soda, and vegan-friendly snacks to keep runners fueled throughout the event. Personal aid stations are permitted for additional support, but participants must respect park visitors and adhere to Leave No Trace principles. Camping is not allowed within Valley Falls State Park due to its closure at nightfall; however, nearby accommodations such as Tygart Lake State Park offer discounted rates for race attendees. Lodging options also include hotels in Fairmont, Grafton, or Bridgeport, with detailed booking information provided online. The EHQ Valley Falls 12 Hour event will benefit The Innocent Lives Foundation, a charity dedicated to protecting children from exploitation and trafficking through proactive measures like tracking predators. Runners can feel good about their efforts while supporting this vital cause. As race day approaches, updates will be shared via social media channels under @EHQEvents. Stay connected for the latest information on course previews, event logistics, and more. Don't miss out on the opportunity to experience one of West Virginia's premier trail running events!

About Fairmont
Learn more about the host city, Fairmont.
Fairmont, nicknamed the "Friendly City", is a city of 18,313 people in West Virginia, and the county seat of Marion County. It was established in 1820 as Middletown, and changed in 1843 to Fairmont, short for "Fair Mountain". The city is located on the Monongahela River at its origin at the confluence of the Tygart Valley River flowing northwest from Grafton, and the West Fork River flowing north from Clarksburg. Fairmont claims to be the origin of the Pepperoni Roll, West Virginia's official state food. Mary Lou Retton — a gold-medalist gymnast in the 1984 Olympics, who was highly popular around the country and particularly in West Virginia — came from Fairmont.
