The EOD Warrior Holiday Dash is set to return with its 8th edition on December 6th in the heart of Washington, District of Columbia. This festive race along the historic Chesapeake & Ohio Canal path promises an exhilarating experience for runners and spectators alike. Starting at Fletcher’s Boat House, participants will embark on a journey that winds through charming Georgetown neighborhoods near the Potomac Boat Club. The event offers three main distances: 5K (3.1 miles), Half Marathon (13.1 miles), and full Marathon (26.2 miles). Each race begins and ends at different points, providing unique perspectives of this picturesque route. Virtual participation is also encouraged with options for those unable to join in person. Runners can choose between a medal-only virtual event or one that includes a commemorative shirt. The 5K registration fee starts at $39.10 while the marathon costs $98.04, making it accessible for all runners. Race morning brings crisp early-morning air, with temperatures typically ranging from freezing to just above zero degrees Celsius (2-8°C). Humidity levels around 70% can make conditions feel slightly warmer, and a steady wind of about ten miles per hour may chill the atmosphere further. However, precipitation is unlikely, though runners should be prepared for potential light drizzle. The course offers diverse terrain along the canal path, with sections that range from smooth to slightly uneven depending on recent weather patterns. Participants will navigate through multiple turns before reaching their respective finish lines in Georgetown. Half Marathon and Marathon racers can expect an elevation gain of 150 feet throughout their journey. Bibs for all participants are available at the Washington Convention Center from December 5th, between 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Runners should bring a valid ID and any necessary race gear or supplies. Fletcher’s Boat House, located at 4278 Wisconsin Ave NW, serves as the starting point for all races. The event welcomes both seasoned runners and newcomers. Participants under 13 years old are encouraged to be accompanied by an adult. First-timers should arrive early to ensure they have everything needed on race day. EOD Warrior Holiday Dash not only challenges participants with a scenic course but also supports military families through scholarships funded by the event’s proceeds. This community-driven race is sure to create lasting memories for all who participate, blending personal achievement with philanthropic spirit in one festive dash. The atmosphere is vibrant and inclusive, celebrating the holiday season while honoring those serving our nation.
