Florence Marathon invites runners to experience the perfect blend of athleticism and artistry on the last weekend of November each year. The course weaves through some of Florence's most iconic landmarks, offering participants not just a run but an immersive journey into Renaissance history. As you cross the starting line in Piazza del Duomo, surrounded by the grandeur of Brunelleschi’s dome and Giotto’s bell tower, your senses are immediately captivated. The marathon continues along the picturesque Ponte Vecchio, where jewelers' shops have lined its walkways for centuries. You'll pass through vibrant squares like Piazza Pitti and Piazza Santa Croce, each with their own unique architectural marvels. The route then ventures into Cascine Park, a sprawling green space that provides runners with an invigorating break from the city's hustle and bustle. As you wind your way back to more historic sites, every step feels like stepping through time itself. The marathon promises not just a race but an unforgettable encounter with Florence’s rich cultural heritage. Florence Marathon adheres strictly to FIDAL and World Athletics regulations. To participate in this event, athletes must be at least 20 years old on the day of the race and hold either a valid FIDAL or RUNCARD membership for Italian runners, or a World Athletics membership if they are from abroad. All participants need a current competitive medical certificate to ensure their health during the marathon. Foreign athletes who do not belong to their national athletics federation can still join by signing a Liability Waiver Form. While these runners won't be eligible for FIDAL/World Athletics rankings or prize money, they will receive an official race time certification upon completion of the course. Italian residents living abroad must provide proof of membership from either FIDAL, RUNCARD, or RUNCARD EPS to participate and can expect their results to be included in the rankings. Join Florence Marathon for a run that transcends mere physical exertion, embracing the beauty and history that define this remarkable city. Florence awaits you.
