Eungella King & Queen of the Mountain invites runners to embark on an exhilarating journey through nature's embrace, set for Sunday, July 26th, 2026. The adventure commences at Netherdale, with participants required to register online by Saturday evening, ensuring a seamless start at 7:00 am sharp. The race features two exciting distances – the challenging 6.4km path and the more accessible 2.6km route. Both courses will contribute significantly to club championships, offering seniors an opportunity for prestige and juniors a chance to shine with unique accolades. For those seeking a test of endurance, the longer 6.4km course promises breathtaking views as you ascend towards your finish line on top of the mountain, where you'll find yourself surrounded by lush grass in front of the charming Eungella Chalet. This route is steeped in history and beauty, with current records standing at 27 minutes and 51 seconds for males (set by Charlie Martel in 1991) and 34 minutes and 55 seconds for females (also set in 1991). The shorter yet equally captivating 2.6km route offers a gentler climb, culminating with the Laura Pettifer Inspirational Trophy awarded to the first-place junior male or female. This year marks the 19th anniversary of Laura's passing, and her legacy lives on through this prestigious recognition. Post-race festivities await at Eungella Chalet, where breakfast and refreshments will be served. Prizes are plentiful for both age groups: $100 in cash awaits first-place finishers in each senior category; second to fourth places receive monetary awards too. For juniors, top honors come with the Laura Pettifer Inspirational Trophy, along with additional cash prizes. Podiatry Mackay and Veronica Pettifer sponsor this event, ensuring that every runner is supported through their journey up the mountain. Join us for a day filled with challenge, camaraderie, and celebration of athletic achievement in one of Australia’s most picturesque settings.
