Set amidst the breathtaking granite-slabbed boreal forest of Whiteshell Provincial Park near Falcon Lake, this trail running festival promises an unforgettable weekend experience for runners of all levels. ### Race Overview Dates: September 26–27, 2026 Location: Falcon Ridge Ski Hill, Whiteshell Provincial Park, MB, Canada Start Times: Saturday at 10:00 AM, Sunday at 9:00 AM Cut-off Times: Saturday by 2:00 PM, Sunday by 4:00 PM ### Event Highlights The centerpiece of Falcon Trail Fest is the brand new onishkatoon gwaykaadiziwin trail, which wraps around the eastern end of Falcon Lake. This stunning route offers a mix of pine stands and cedar groves along with breathtaking lake views, making it an ideal setting for both racing and exploring. ### Race Options #### Full Flight (58K) This two-day stage race challenges runners to conquer 16 kilometers on Saturday followed by the Altra Loop the Lake Marathon of 42 kilometers on Sunday. The Full Flight spans a total distance of 58 kilometers, featuring steep climbs, granite ridgelines, and fast-flowing singletrack through Falcon Ridge’s rugged interior. #### Half Flight (36K) For those looking for a taste of multi-day racing without the full commitment, the Half Flight offers an 8-kilometer run on Saturday and a 28-kilometer trek around Falcon Lake on Sunday. This 36-kilometer journey includes varied terrain with steep climbs, technical trails, and scenic lakeside paths. #### Classic Up & Down (Saturday Only) Running alongside both stage races is the Classic Up & Down event, available in two distances: an 8K version for a shorter but spicy loop around Falcon Ridge Ski Hill, and a more challenging 16K option that doubles back on itself. This course features steep climbs, rocky shield terrain, and granite slab running. #### Loop the Lake Marathon (Sunday Only) On Sunday morning, runners can tackle either the full Altra Loop the Lake Marathon of 42 kilometers or opt for the shorter but equally challenging Better Half, an out-and-back route along Falcon Lake. Both courses offer stunning vistas and a mix of new singletrack trails with classic paths. ### What to Expect Falcon Trail Fest is not just about pushing your limits on race day; it’s also about immersing yourself in Manitoba's vibrant trail running community. Enjoy fully stocked aid stations, personalized bibs, custom performance shirts for all participants, and a chance at top three finisher trophies. Plus, every runner will receive a voucher to enjoy the Trails End Restaurant. ### Additional Information - Registration: Once registered, refunds are not available due to pre-event expenses. - Ages: Participants must be 18 or older; those between 15 and 18 require written parental permission. - Support Crews: Only designated aid stations can provide support. Spectators should cheer from the start/finish area near Falcon Ridge Chalet.
