Fit Forward 5K Run/Walk

On September 12, the scenic trails of Beck Lake and Allison Woods Parks come alive as runners and walkers converge for the annual Fit Forward 5K Run/Walk. Starting at Central Road near Beck Lake, this race weaves through picturesque neighborhoods before concluding on Milwaukee Avenue by Allison Woods.
Race participants will enjoy a morning filled with vibrant autumn colors, where crisp air carries the scent of falling leaves. The course offers firm yet slightly soft surfaces under clear skies, expected to bask in 9 hours and 42 minutes of sunshine. For seasoned runners, the straightforward but challenging layout is designed to test your endurance; meanwhile, beginners will find encouragement on a welcoming path.
This event has been a staple since its inception in 2015, growing steadily each year with participants from diverse communities such as Des Plaines and Northbrook. The race supports several local health initiatives including the Indian Social Workers Association of Illinois, Indian Nurses Association of Illinois, Malayalee Association of Respiratory Care Rehabilitation Professionals of Kerala Origin, and Malayalee Radiographers Association.

Arrive no later than 8:45 AM to secure your bib and pick it up between 9:00 - 10:00 AM. Suitable race gear, such as a comfortable running outfit and hydration pack if needed, is recommended for the mild conditions with an average temperature of around 20 degrees Celsius. Moderate UV levels necessitate sun protection.
