Five Gold Rings 2026

The Five Gold Rings race, hosted by Essex Trail Events at Stow Maries on December 29, 2026, offers runners two challenging distances: an 11-mile trek and a more compact 6-mile route. Participants will navigate the trails using only a written route description provided on the day, with no markings or marshals to guide them along the way. The event starts between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM, allowing runners to set off at their chosen time within this window.
The race is timed out-and-back style, emphasizing self-reliance as competitors make their own way through the scenic Essex countryside. Entry fees are £9 for affiliated members and £11 for unaffiliated participants, plus a 50p booking fee; all runners receive a £4 voucher to enjoy at the local pub post-race.
While running with dogs is not permitted according to UK Athletics guidelines, this event encourages friends to run together by allowing multiple entries under one name. However, organizers require full details for each runner before the closing date of December 15th, ensuring everyone's safety and compliance with race rules.
The Five Gold Rings promises a unique blend of independent trail navigation and camaraderie among runners, set against the backdrop of winter in Essex.
