The around Canvey Island Trail Run

Welcome to the Waterside Farm Leisure Centre's unique running adventure around Canvey Island, an event that combines scenic beauty with a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. This self-supported loop is perfect for runners of all levels looking for something different from your typical race.
The run begins at 12:00 PM sharp from Waterside Farm Leisure Centre, where you'll collect your registration materials including race numbers, pins, and a complimentary bottle of water starting at 11:10 AM. The course is an anti-clockwise loop around the island, with most of it along the picturesque sea wall. Participants will traverse single-track grass paths as well as wider concrete and gravel trails that follow parts of the King Charles III England Coast Path.
One highlight of this run is a mid-point stop at 10 kilometers where you can grab a complimentary drink from the pub (on us) to refuel during your journey. This rest point also serves as an excellent spot for supporters looking to cheer runners on and catch up with their progress. The route offers flexibility, allowing participants to explore the lower promenade if weather conditions permit, showcasing local art installations along the way.
Participants should be aware of a strict 4-hour cut-off time to ensure everyone's safety throughout the course. It’s crucial for all competitors to use designated traffic lights and crossing points at both ends of the run due to busy roads in this area; failure to do so could result in disqualification, as it poses significant risks.
Registration includes access to secure lockers within the leisure centre, though organizers are not responsible for lost or stolen items. The route is clearly marked with GPX files available on Strava and detailed narratives provided online prior to race day. To ensure a smooth experience, please download these resources in advance.
Upon completion of your run, make sure you register back at Waterside Farm Leisure Centre where the exact finish location will be confirmed closer to event time. Tail walkers/joggers are stationed throughout the course as an added safety measure for all participants.
For travel details, there is ample free parking available near the leisure centre, though it may vary depending on local football matches. Alternatively, you can reach Waterside Farm Leisure Centre in a brisk 18-minute walk from Benfleet Railway Station or less than half that time by bicycle.
