Foxton Hound Ultra

The Foxton Hound Ultras offer an unforgettable adventure through the picturesque landscapes of Northamptonshire and Leicestershire. Whether you're a seasoned ultra runner looking for another challenge or someone stepping up from marathon distances, this race provides a perfect blend of scenic beauty and historical interest.
Set along the Harborough Round long-distance footpath, both the 100k and 50k routes take runners through charming villages like Houghton on the Hill, West Haddon, Coton, Stoke Albany, and more. The course also features notable landmarks such as Foxton Locks, Naseby Battle Field, and a passage through the Kelmarsh Tunnel.
The race is licensed by the TRA under UKA rules and has strict age requirements of 20 years or older on race day. Runners must adhere to specific cut-off times: an overall limit of 18 hours for the 100k route with progressive checkpoints, while the 50k race concludes in 9 hours without checkpoint constraints.
Entry is available until one week before the event and includes detailed GPX files for navigation. The routes intersect several long-distance footpaths including the Jurassic Way, Leicestershire Round, Macmillan Way, Midshires Way, Richard III Trail, and Uppingham Round. Free guided recces are offered to help runners familiarize themselves with the course.
On-course support includes professional first aid at start/finish locations as well as race day hydration stations offering a variety of food options such as hot pasta, soup, fruit, crackers, and more. Runners must carry essential items like trail shoes, full-charged mobile phones (with Race Director and Medic numbers), water bottles/bladders capable of carrying 1 liter or more, survival blankets, head torches with spare batteries for the tunnel passage, waterproof jackets, whistles, long-sleeved base layers/fleeces, reflective tops/bands (for 100k only), hats and gloves (also for 100k runners).
All finishers will receive a specially commissioned event medal while top male and female competitors in both races earn trophies. The first-place men's and women's winners also get vouchers for a unique sauna and cold plunge experience at Wild Sauna Club.
