The Foxton Hound Ultras present two challenging courses through the picturesque landscapes of Northamptonshire and Leicestershire, designed to cater both to seasoned ultra runners looking for an intense test and newcomers aiming to push their limits beyond marathon distances. Set on the Harborough Round long-distance footpath, these routes offer breathtaking views and rich historical sites. Runners will pass by charming villages such as Houghton on the Hill and West Haddon, explore Foxton Locks, tread through the Kelmarsh Tunnel along Brampton Valley Way, and stand at Naseby Battlefield. Both races are licensed under UKA rules by the TRA and come with a minimum age requirement of 20 years for race day. The 100k route has an overall cut-off time of 18 hours, while the 50k race concludes in 9 hours without checkpoint-specific cut-offs. Participants must register between 05:45 AM on event day and start their journey at Winwick Hall, NN6 7PD. The 100k runners begin at 7:00 AM followed by a 50k departure an hour later. The terrain features varied elevations with some steep ascents complemented by delightful descents, offering both challenges and rewards to the determined runner. Navigation support includes downloadable GPX files for each route or written instructions available online. For safety and tracking purposes, runners will receive Open Tracking devices at registration which must be returned upon completion of their race. Free guided recces are offered before the event to familiarize participants with the course layout and enhance confidence in self-navigation skills. On-course support includes professional first aid stations at start/finish locations as well as hydration and nutrition points along both routes, providing hot meals like pasta or soup at designated checkpoints for 100k runners. Mandatory kit requirements include a full-charge mobile phone, head torch (with spare batteries), waterproof jacket, whistle, survival blanket, water bottle/bladder of one litre capacity, reflective gear for the 100k race only, and additional clothing layers as needed. Top male and female finishers in both races will receive prizes while all participants are awarded a specially designed event medal. Race Harborough also supports local charities like Jubilee Foodbank and Weston Favell Centre Foodbank through fundraising opportunities at each event.
