Step into the fifth edition of the Great Shasta Rail Trail Run, an exhilarating adventure nestled in Burney, California. This year’s run promises not only scenic beauty but also a vibrant community atmosphere and challenging terrain that will leave you wanting more.
The course is designed to cater to all levels, from first-time runners to seasoned athletes chasing personal records. The 30K and 50K routes feature an iconic highlight: the Stand By Me Bridge, a must-see landmark along the Rail Trail. For those seeking an extra thrill, the 50K route includes a rugged creek scramble section that adds excitement without compromising on speed.
Participants will enjoy crisp mountain air and stunning forested views throughout their journey. Aid stations are strategically placed every three to six miles, offering essential supplies like electrolytes, snacks, and ice to keep you energized during your run. Post-race, runners can look forward to a warm meal as they celebrate their achievement with fellow competitors.
This event is more than just a race; it’s an opportunity to support the preservation of the Great Shasta Rail Trail through fundraising efforts that help maintain its beauty and accessibility for future generations.
Burney offers endless outdoor activities beyond the run, including visits to Burney Falls, Lassen National Park, Subway Cave, and world-class fly fishing spots.
Registration packets can be picked up on race morning at 5:30 AM for 30K and 50K runners, with a brief pre-race briefing just before the start. For those running in the shorter 10K event, packet pick-up begins at 6:30 AM.
