Registration is now open for the Halland Ultra-Beach trail running festival, an exhilarating journey through some of Sweden's most stunning coastal landscapes. Spanning over six stages and totaling 200 miles from Göteborg to Båstad, this event offers a unique blend of challenging terrain that includes rocky beaches, grassy expanses, sandy shores, pastures, and even stretches of open roads. Participants can choose between several race distances: the full 200-mile Ultra-Beach challenge, a 100-mile option with two routes (a northern route starting in Göteborg or a classic/main race from Åskloster), a single stage ranging from 40 to 75 kilometers, and a more manageable 100-kilometer course that starts at Olofsbo. The event is designed for self-sufficiency, with participants navigating their way through the unmarked trails using provided GPS tracks and maps. Drop bag stations are available after each stage where runners can rest briefly, grab some food, and access gear they’ve stored in advance. These stops offer a moment of respite before continuing on to the next leg. The course winds through diverse landscapes, from dense woodland and heath near Göteborg to rolling hills overlooking picturesque fjords at Onsala. Runners will encounter rugged coastal paths lined with pebbles and rocks around Åsa, followed by expansive marshlands and pastures in Åskloster. The fifth stage takes runners across meadows and sandy dunes near Olofsbo before concluding on the shores of Tylösand for a final push to the finish line. Whether you're an experienced ultra runner or looking to test your limits over shorter distances, Halland Ultra-Beach offers something unforgettable for trail enthusiasts. With its breathtaking scenery and challenging terrain, this event promises an adventure like no other in Sweden's western region.
