The Hustle Half Marathon invites runners to explore the breathtaking landscapes of Swaledale, starting from the picturesque village of Grinton. This 21-kilometer route offers a blend of challenging terrain and stunning scenery, winding through some of Yorkshire's most cherished paths. As you begin your journey alongside DR40 participants, the race takes an immediate turn into the heart of Harkerside Moor, where ancient history meets natural beauty as runners pass by an Iron Age farmstead. The ascent to Whitaside Moor is a testament to both the physical and mental fortitude required for this event. The course then descends along Apedale track before reconnecting with DR40 at Height of Greets, leading you across rugged moorland towards Grinton Smelt Mill. Here, runners are rewarded with panoramic views from Sharrow Hill, setting a serene backdrop as the race continues to Cogden Hall via grassy slopes. Throughout this half marathon, participants will traverse a diverse landscape that includes moorland trods, hard-packed tracks, and verdant paths, each segment offering unique challenges. The event concludes back at the Dales Bike Centre, where post-race refreshments await—hot soup, rolls, hot drinks, and cakes are available to help runners recover. This year's highlight is a finishers neck tube for those who wish to purchase one as an additional souvenir from their run. With mandatory kit requirements in place, all participants must adhere to the guidelines detailed on our website to ensure they have everything needed for this demanding yet rewarding journey. Registration opens at 9:00am with the race starting promptly at 10am. Participants should note that the event is open only to those aged 16 and above due to safety regulations.
