Haver-Tri: A Welcoming Gateway to Sprint Distance Racing
Scheduled for April 11, 2027, Haverfordwest's Haver-Tri offers aspiring and seasoned triathletes an inviting entry into the sprint distance format. This event is meticulously designed with newcomers in mind but also caters to those looking for a friendly season opener.
The race takes place at Haverfordwest Leisure Centre and features three distinct options: full sprint triathlon, aquathlon (swim-run), or relay team participation of two or three members. The individual sprint distance comprises a 400-meter pool swim followed by a rolling bike ride through undulating terrain for 17 kilometers before concluding with a flat yet challenging run over five kilometers.
Competitors can expect:
- A manageable and welcoming atmosphere, ensuring that even first-timers feel supported.
- Flat waters in the swimming segment, easing entry into open water transitions.
- An accessible bike route that includes varied elevation changes without becoming overly demanding.
- Four laps of an undulating yet runnable 5-kilometer circuit.
Participants will be equipped with electronic chip timing for accurate results and finisher medals upon completion. Additionally, prizes are awarded across various age groups as well as to novice competitors and aquathlon participants specifically. Free event photography adds a memorable touch to the experience.
The race is capped at 160 entrants, ensuring an intimate setting where every athlete's effort can be celebrated. Entry fees range from £40 for individuals to £50 per relay team of two or three members, with a reduced fee of £30 available for aquathlon competitors.
Safety and compliance are paramount, adhering strictly to British Triathlon Competition Rules under the supervision of Technical Officials throughout all segments. No wetsuits or flotation aids are permitted in the pool swim, while drafting is prohibited during cycling stages on open roads where standard traffic regulations apply.
