Old Hallowell Day Hills and Thrills Bike Ride

Embark on an exhilarating journey through the picturesque rolling hills of Hallowell and its neighboring communities during this year's Old Hallowell Day Hills and Thrills bike ride. The adventure commences from the historic Boat Landing in downtown Hallowell, weaving through a variety of roads that showcase the area’s charming landscapes.
Two distinct courses will be available for participants to choose from: one entirely paved and another featuring 50% gravel and 50% road surfaces. Both routes are approximately 23 miles long and offer challenging climbs with an elevation gain ranging between 1,500 and 2,000 feet.
This is a recreational event designed for moderately experienced cyclists; beginners and children may find the terrain too demanding. The ride will proceed rain or shine, ensuring that participants can still enjoy the scenic route regardless of weather conditions.
Registration is encouraged but not mandatory. Pre-registration closes on Friday, July 17th, at midnight to secure your spot in this capstone event for only 30 riders. A $25 fee covers essential costs such as road signs and t-shirts, with any surplus funds benefiting Old Hallowell Day itself – a non-profit organization dedicated to celebrating the local community.
Be sure to arrive early between 7:00 and 7:15 AM at the Hallowell Boat Landing for check-in. The ride will commence promptly at 7:15 AM, allowing ample time before the concurrent 5K Road Race begins. Detailed course information can be found on RideWithGPS.
Upon completion of your journey, return to downtown Hallowell and complete a final check-in between 9:00 and 9:30 AM at the intersection of Central and Second Street. Helmets are mandatory for safety reasons, and all participants must sign the Code of Conduct.
