Holiday Hootie Hoo

The Holiday Hootie-Hoo Trail Race 10K and Half Marathon returns to Pine Mountain, Georgia on Sunday, December 13, 2026. The race is the fourth event in the Southern Singletrack series and marks its ninth year running in F.D.R. State Park. Participants will gather early on a crisp morning along Georgia Highway 190 for an invigorating trail run through some of Pine Mountain's most scenic terrain.
The day begins with runners assembling near the park entrance by 7:30 AM, where temperatures hover around freezing and there is little chance of precipitation. The race course winds its way into F.D.R. State Park, a sprawling expanse of natural beauty featuring unique rock outcroppings, hardwood forests, longleaf pine groves, and numerous creek crossings that challenge even the most experienced trail runners.
The Holiday Hootie-Hoo Trail Race is more than just an event; it's a celebration of community and conservation. Each year, hundreds gather to support local causes while enjoying one of Georgia’s longest trails. Since its inception in 2018, the race has raised thousands for park maintenance through entry fees, with proceeds going directly towards supporting F.D.R. State Park, the Pine Mountain Trail Association, and the Humane Society of Harris County.
The course itself is a mix of rocky singletrack paths covered by fallen leaves that can be slippery underfoot, making it crucial to watch where you step. The Half Marathon route includes additional scenic elements such as springs, rock formations, and creek crossings along its 21-kilometer path. Runners tackling the shorter but no less challenging 10K will find themselves traversing through Mountain Creek Nature Trail Loop and part of the Longleaf Loop.
Weather conditions on race day are expected to be cool with firm yet slightly soft trail surfaces that provide a solid footing for runners while allowing them to feel connected to nature. UV index levels should remain low, making it comfortable for participants to enjoy their run without worrying about sun exposure.
