Hollybank Eccup Junior Races 2026

The Eccup Junior Races offer young athletes from school years 3 through 12 an exciting opportunity to compete and have fun. Held at Bedquilts Playing Fields, this race features a one-mile loop entirely on grass, providing runners with a natural and comfortable surface for their run.
For younger participants in school years 3-6, the course is a single lap around the playing fields. Older children, from year 7 to 12, will complete two laps of the same scenic route. The event aims to encourage physical activity among young people while fostering a sense of community and sportsmanship.
In addition to the competitive spirit, the Eccup Junior Races also support charitable causes. Abbey Runners is making donations to both Hollybank Trust and The Hygiene Bank from race proceeds. Participants are encouraged to contribute further by donating directly when they register for the event.
A fun 1k run called the Peter Leach Fun Run precedes the main races, taking place at 9:45am on Bedquilts Playing Fields. This shorter distance is ideal for younger children but open to all who wish to participate and enjoy a less strenuous start to the day's activities. The entry fee for this fun run is £3.
Registration for both events takes place near the starting line of the junior races at Bedquilts Playing Fields, ensuring that participants can easily join in on the excitement.
