The Hustle For Mental Health returns to Airdrie, Alberta on Sunday, June 21st for its fifth year of promoting mental health awareness among men. This Father's Day event aims to bring the community together in support of the Airdrie Food Bank.
On race morning at the Centennial Park, located off the Bow River Trail and close to Downtown Airdrie’s bustling streets, participants can expect a serene setting with firm but slightly soft trails underfoot. The atmosphere is one of camaraderie as families gather around the park entrance to register for their chosen distance before heading out onto the course.
The race offers a 5K Family Fun Walk or Run and a Kids Race covering just over a kilometer, both benefiting from NRG Fitness’s support in raising awareness about men's mental health. Since its inception five years ago, this event has drawn hundreds of participants who run not only to improve their own well-being but also to make a difference locally.
The course venue is the Centennial Park, featuring firm and slightly soft trails that wind through the park grounds, providing both scenic views and a comfortable surface for runners. At the start line near the main pavilion, families can gather before heading out onto a looped route that takes them past various landmarks within the park boundaries.
The race offers two distances: the 5K Family Fun Walk or Run for adults and the Kids Race covering just over one kilometer. Participants will experience an elevation gain of only about three meters throughout the course, with no significant climbs to navigate. Along the way, there are no designated aid stations but water stations set up at key points.
On race day, temperatures in Airdrie typically range between 18°C and 24°C (64°F - 75°F), making for a comfortable run despite the moderate UV index of around 5.6. Expect some wind during the morning hours, but overall conditions should be favorable with no significant precipitation expected.
