Indigenous People's Day 5K

On Sunday, October 11, 2026, join the Tuscarora Rez Runners for their second annual Indigenous People's Day 5K and 1 Mile Fun Walk. This family-friendly race aims to promote health and wellness while celebrating community spirit in Lewiston, New York.
The event kicks off at 10:00am from the Tuscarora Nation House on Walmore Road. Participants will enjoy a scenic out-and-back course along Mount Hope Road for both races. The 5K run features a turnaround point just past Greene Road, offering runners breathtaking views of this picturesque route through the Tuscarora Nation.
Registration is now open and can be completed online until October 10th at 7pm with payment via credit card. Race-day registration will also be available from 8:30am to race start time inside the Nation House, but only cash or check payments are accepted due to limited internet access on site.
Early bird discounts apply through September 30th:
- $25 for the 5K run
- $20 for the non-timed 1 Mile Fun Walk

After crossing the finish line, runners and their families are invited to enjoy a complimentary home-cooked breakfast inside the Nation House. The celebration continues with live native music, traditional crafts, and other activities that showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Tuscarora people.
Awards will be presented during post-race festivities for both competitive athletes and community participants alike:
- Custom trophies for first place male and female overall in the 5K
- Medals awarded to top three finishers by age group:
- 14 & under, 15–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and over 70
Participants can look forward to state-of-the-art timing services provided by Race Management Solutions using Jaguar Electronic RFID chips. Real-time results will be available through the ITSYourRace mobile app or at designated kiosks near the finish line.
