Explore Irchester Country Park with your furry companion at our exciting 5k canicross adventure. This scenic race offers an ideal setting for both beginners and experienced runners to enjoy running alongside their dogs through the park's diverse terrain.
Set against a backdrop of stunning woodland, Irchester Country Park features varied trails that include grassy paths, dirt tracks, and hard-packed surfaces, providing a challenging yet enjoyable course for you and your canine partner. The event is designed not only as a race but also as an opportunity to learn from experts who will be on hand with valuable tips and advice.
Registration begins at 8am in the gazebo located on Little Meadow (opposite the play park) on race morning, where participants can collect their race packs via email ahead of time. No pre-issued timing numbers or chips are required for this event.
The start line is situated alongside the top car park within Irchester Country Park and will be clearly marked with signage. Parking at the venue costs £3.50 per vehicle for up to 12 hours, ensuring convenient access on race day.
For those new to canicross, listen to podcast episodes covering topics such as getting started in the sport, tips from first-time racers Michelle and Poppy, and guidelines regarding dog muzzles during races.
Race Harborough ensures your safety with professional medical support available at both the start and finish lines. Additionally, trained volunteers will monitor runners throughout the course for any assistance needed along the way.
Participants can choose to compete with one or two dogs in a staggered starting format that prioritizes everyone's comfort and security. Recommended gear includes trail shoes and properly fitted canicross harnesses.
Celebrate your achievement at the finish line where top male and female racers will receive trophies, while all participants are awarded an event medal. Your four-legged friend won't be left out either—keep an eye out for special treats designed just for them!
