Iron Backbone Ultra

Iron Backbone Ultra invites trail runners to explore the heart of Kristinehamn, weaving through the spine of Järnleden Trail. This race celebrates nature, community, and running joy with an inclusive spirit for both newcomers and seasoned athletes. Participants embark on a challenging journey under the stars at 5:00 PM, navigating technical trails, forest paths, and varied terrain.
The event offers three distinct distances to cater to various levels of experience:
- 15 km: An intense trail adventure that showcases the beauty and challenges of Kristinehamn's natural landscapes.

- 30 km: A substantial challenge across diverse terrains, testing runners' endurance and technical skills.

- 50 km: For those who wish to push their limits over an entire marathon distance.
Each runner sets their own pace as they face the demands of this trail race. The competition is fierce for some, while others aim simply to complete the course under a 10-hour time limit. Regardless of personal goals, Iron Backbone Ultra promises a rewarding experience that tests runners' mental and physical fortitude step by step.
The route winds through scenic trails and forests around Kristinehamn, offering breathtaking views and an intimate connection with nature. Participants start and finish at Hultets Friluftsgård in Kristinehamn, where the race's vibrant atmosphere will inspire every runner to give their best effort.
For registration purposes, runners must meet certain age requirements:
- For 50 km and 30 km distances: The minimum age is 18 years old.
- Participants aged 16 can join with parental consent. A signed waiver form from a guardian must be submitted before the race start for those under 18.
