The IRON HORSE Endurance Run returns to Paris, Texas on January 2nd, 2027, marking a new chapter for ultrarunning enthusiasts in the Lone Star State with its inaugural point-to-point 100K and near point-to-point 100-mile races. The event unfolds along the Northeast Texas Trail (NETT), an expansive route that stretches through various terrains including small towns, prairies, rugged backcountry, and flat open plains. Participants will traverse a mix of dirt trails, gravel roads, paved paths, and sidewalks as they embark on this challenging yet historic journey.
On race morning in Paris, runners can expect to find the Love Civic Center bustling with activity at 5 AM for packet pickup, where participants gather their essential materials before setting off on their respective distances. The weather is typically cool but comfortable by Texas standards, ranging from a low of around 33 degrees Fahrenheit up to about 53 degrees in January. With clear skies and mild conditions forecasted during the event, runners will have firm yet slightly soft trail conditions underfoot while facing minimal UV exposure.
IRON HORSE has been meticulously crafted not only as an endurance challenge but also as a celebration of Texas grit and perseverance. The inaugural edition aims to attract seasoned ultrarunners eager to test their limits on this new trail system.
