Celebrating its 12th anniversary in 2027, Karl-Oskarsimmet is a prestigious open water swimming competition nestled in the scenic northern part of Lake Växjö. This year’s edition features three distinct race distances: 925 meters, 1850 meters, and an impressive 5000-meter event which serves as both the Eastern Swedish Championships and the OW (Senior, U21, and Masters) competition. The racing lanes for all distances are meticulously mapped using GPS technology, ensuring consistent course lengths since 2019. The event offers a unique opportunity to test your skills in open water with the addition of the Sally Provet – a challenging 200-meter swim designed specifically for those looking to push their limits. Swimmers have various registration windows depending on the race distance: - For the 925m and 1850m races, participants can register between 10:00 AM and 11:30 AM. - The 5000m event allows for registration from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM. The Sally Provet takes place throughout the day starting at 10:00 AM, with participants having until approximately 3:00 PM to complete their test. Wetsuit regulations are strictly enforced based on water temperature: - Below 16°C, wetsuits are mandatory. - Between 16°C and 18°C, they are recommended for safety reasons. - From 18°C up to 23°C, the use of a wetsuit is permitted but not required. - Above 23°C, wetsuit usage is prohibited due to health concerns. Karl-Oskarsimmet is part of the larger Östsvenska Cup series, which includes other notable locations like Jönköping, Värnamo & Motala.
