Kelpies Half Marathon

Welcome to the 3rd Kelpies Half Marathon, set to take place on September 26th, 2026 at Helix Park in Falkirk. This year’s edition promises an exhilarating run around and over two iconic bridges of Scotland's Firth of Forth.
The race begins with a bang as runners start their journey from the base of the Kelpies sculptures, heading towards Clackmannanshire Bridge for the first crossing. Built in 2008, this bridge offers stunning views across the water to the historic Kincardine Bridge on your return trip. The route is designed not only for speed but also for scenic beauty and historical significance.
This year's event includes a partnership with Maggie’s Forth Valley, a charity supporting people living with cancer and their families. Participants are encouraged to raise funds through a suggested £100 target via the provided fundraising link in their confirmation email. Volunteers from Maggie’s will be stationed at registration for anyone wishing to learn more about this important cause.
The course itself is relatively flat and fast, ideal for runners looking to achieve personal bests or simply enjoy an engaging experience. After crossing Clackmannashire Bridge, you'll loop around the Skinflats area before heading back towards Kincardine Village via a charming path network that offers little shelter from the elements. The route then takes you over the historic Kincardine Bridge and under Clackmannanshire Bridge for your return journey.
As you near the finish line, the magnificent Kelpies come into view once more as runners cross back underneath them on their final approach to the green where a cheering crowd awaits. All participants will receive a commemorative medal and t-shirt at the finish area.
Registration is available in person or online with options for Thursday 24th September from 5pm-8pm, Friday 25th from 4pm-6pm, and Saturday morning before the race starts. The event aims to minimize environmental impact by encouraging participants to bring reusable water bottles that can be refilled at designated stations.
Active Root will provide their ginger sports drink at the finish line for a refreshing touch after your run. Safety is prioritized with clear signage throughout the course and marshals stationed strategically along the way, ensuring all runners stay on track while enjoying this unique route through Scotland’s historic landscape.
