Kevin Hutt 10k

In memory of Kevin Hutt, an esteemed founder and trailblazer for the Traprock Trail Race community who passed away unexpectedly in 2025, the inaugural Kevin Hutt 10K is set to honor his legacy. This race takes place on a challenging yet rewarding course along the Metacomet Trail and Penwood State Park’s Orange and Yellow trails.
Participants will navigate through mostly technical single-track terrain that presents both rocky sections and runnable stretches throughout the rolling loop, offering an engaging experience for trail runners of all levels who appreciate varied landscapes and dynamic challenges. The route is designed to test one's endurance while highlighting the scenic beauty and natural allure of Connecticut’s Penwood State Park.
Race day will not feature aid stations along the course; therefore, competitors are advised to carry sufficient hydration for the 6.2-mile distance. Upon crossing the finish line, runners can look forward to a well-deserved snack provided by race organizers as they celebrate their accomplishment and pay tribute to Kevin’s spirit of camaraderie.
A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to NAMI - National Association of Mental Illness, supporting vital mental health initiatives within the community. As spots fill up quickly, runners interested in participating should register early. Once capacity is reached, a waitlist system will activate with notifications sent out based on registration order.
The Kevin Hutt 10K is organized by CT Trailmixers, a dedicated trail running club located in central Connecticut committed to promoting and preserving the state’s diverse trails for both members and visitors alike. Registration cancellations made before September 20th will receive a 50% refund; however, no refunds are available after that date nor is there an option for bib transfers or deferrals.
