Experience the thrill of racing on the historic Route 29 as Team Somerset hosts its annual Kingwood Time Trial, celebrating over eight decades of cycling tradition. This year's championship race offers runners an exhilarating and challenging route that promises to be both fast and flat.
The course stretches from Federal Twist Road northward along Route 29 for a total distance of approximately 15 miles before turning around at the mile marker 33.5, just shy of the halfway point. Participants will then retrace their steps southbound towards the finish line located back on Federal Twist Road, completing the race in record time.
Race organizers emphasize the importance of safety and adherence to traffic laws throughout the course. Runners must ensure they clear timing mats safely without stopping at any unmarked intersections or turns. The return leg features a rolling start, allowing racers to hit their stride as soon as possible upon re-entering Route 29 from the turn-around point.
Early registration is encouraged for the best rates; fees will increase after specific dates. Non-residents are welcome but ineligible for state championships due to residency requirements. A variety of categories cater to all skill levels, ensuring there's a race suitable for everyone—from seasoned professionals to enthusiastic amateurs.
