Immerse yourself in the rugged beauty of California's American River Canyon as you take on the Knickerbocker Canyon Trail Run, an exhilarating journey along historic trails and challenging terrain. This event offers distances ranging from 5K to a grueling 35K, each course designed to test your limits while showcasing some of nature’s most breathtaking vistas. The race begins at American River Overlook Park in Auburn State Recreation Area on March 28, 2026, with staggered start times to accommodate the various distances. Early bib pickup is available on Friday, March 27th from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Fleet Feet - Roseville. The 5K and 10K courses wind through single-track trails alongside the American River, offering a mix of flat sections and gentle climbs before culminating in an unforgettable finish. For those looking for more adventure, the Half Marathon and 35K routes include iconic features like No Hands Bridge and the notorious K2 training hill climb. The latter half of the longer distances sees runners descending back to the riverbank and ascending Dam Hill—a series of long switchbacks that provide a true test of endurance. Throughout the course, you'll enjoy stunning views of canyons, forests, and the sparkling waters of the American River. Aid stations are strategically placed along each route, equipped with essential supplies such as Gu Energy gels, electrolyte drinks from Skratch Labs, fresh fruit, sandwiches, and a variety of snacks to keep your energy levels high. Runners are encouraged to carry their own hydration bottles due to varying distances between aid stations. Volunteers play an integral role in the success of this event, helping with setup, course management, timing, and post-race festivities. In appreciation for their efforts, all volunteers receive a free race T-shirt, food, and credits toward future Inside Trail Racing events based on hours worked. Race day will feature live music, refreshments, and an array of vendors to celebrate your accomplishment at the finish line. All participants can look forward to custom medals with the race logo upon crossing the finish line, while top overall male and female winners in each distance receive trophies and special items from Inside Trail Racing sponsors. To ensure you get a District Perfect-Tri tri-blend performance tee, register by March 13th, 2027. This high-tech shirt is designed to enhance your workout experience with features like sun protection, moisture-wicking technology, quick stain release, and a comfortable fit for all outdoor activities. The Knickerbocker Canyon Trail Run promises an unforgettable adventure in the great outdoors. With its challenging terrain, scenic beauty, and supportive community, this event offers something special for every level of runner. Join us on March 28th to experience it firsthand!
