Immerse yourself in the unique world of dirtrunning at the KRONE Erzberg Adventure Days in Eisenerz on July 10-12, 2027. This annual event transforms one of Europe's largest active mining sites into a playground for endurance athletes and adventure seekers. The centerpiece is the Erzberg Dirtrun, where participants face an array of challenging obstacles integrated seamlessly into the rugged landscape. From massive mud pools to abandoned tunnels and lunar-like waste heaps, this course offers experiences that are truly unlike any other in the OCR world. The 24 km distance on Sunday challenges runners with nearly 800 meters of elevation gain, pushing them through a variety of terrains and obstacles ranging from easy to extremely difficult. For those looking for an adrenaline rush without the full marathon commitment, Saturday's Fun Distance offers a more relaxed but still thrilling option. Spanning just 8 km, this course provides plenty of entertainment with its unique features while allowing participants to enjoy the scenic beauty around Erzberg at their own pace. The event also includes the AT&S Vertical Iron Sprint on Sunday morning—a grueling mountain sprint that ascends an astonishing 92 meters over a mere 180-meter distance. With a steep incline of 95%, this race is not for the faint-hearted and tests runners' strength, endurance, and agility. For those seeking to push their limits even further, the Weekend Warrior Challenge combines all three distances into one epic weekend adventure. Participants who complete both Saturday's Fun Distance and Sunday’s full marathon distance will earn a spot in the final sprint event, vying for the prestigious title of "Erzberg Weekend Warrior." Team registration is encouraged with automatic discounts available when at least four individuals sign up together. Elite runners have their chance to shine on a dedicated wave equipped with GPS trackers. The KRONE Erzberg Adventure Days welcomes participants aged 14 and above, provided they are accompanied by an adult or guardian. From age 16 onwards, solo participation is allowed but requires written consent from a parent or legal guardian. Eisenerz is a market place and old mining town in the Austrian state of Styria, 68 mi (109 km). northwest of Graz by rail. It is situated in the deep Erzbach Valley, dominated on the east by the Pfaffenstein 1,871 m (6,138 ft), on the west by the Kaiserschild 2,084 m (6,837 ft), and on the south by the Erzberg 1,465 m (4,806 ft). It has a medieval fortified church, a Gothic edifice founded by Rudolph of Habsburg in the 13th century and rebuilt in the 16th century.
