The Alpine Trail Series is set to return for its 36th edition, offering runners of all levels an unforgettable journey through the scenic peaks and valleys of the French Alps. The event spans from July 30 to August 1, with a variety of distances catering to both seasoned trail runners and casual participants. On Sunday, July 30, three distinct races take place: The 6D Crêtes is a challenging 21-kilometer course that ascends 1,300 meters. Starting at 8:30 AM from Plagne Centre, this route winds through rugged terrain, showcasing the region's stunning alpine vistas. For those seeking something less strenuous but still rewarding, the 6D Découverte is a family-friendly 11-kilometer run with an elevation gain of just 600 meters. Departing at 9:30 AM from Plagne Centre, this race offers scenic views and a more relaxed pace. Children are not left out as the event includes 6D Kids, featuring a fun-filled day for young runners. Participants complete multiple laps around a short 500-meter loop based on their age category, starting at 2:00 PM in Plagne Centre. The evening brings an exciting twist with the 6D Bob race, which takes place along the Olympic bobsleigh track. This unique event covers just 1.5 kilometers and gains a modest elevation of 125 meters but offers a thrilling experience for runners as they navigate through this unconventional terrain from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Monday, July 31 features two races: The 6D Lacs is a scenic 30-kilometer trek with an elevation gain of 1,500 meters. Starting at Plagne Centre and finishing in Plagne Bellecôte, this race follows the lakeside trails where runners can enjoy serene views of mountain reflections. In contrast, the short yet sweet 6D Foulée is a brisk 5-kilometer run through beautiful alpine landscapes starting from Plagne Centre. The course ends at Plagne Bellecôte and offers a perfect introduction to trail running for beginners or those looking for an easy-paced morning activity. The main event of the series, La 6000D, takes place on Tuesday, August 1 with its grueling 69-kilometer distance that climbs 3,400 meters. Starting at Aime early in the morning (4:30 AM), this race is a true test for endurance athletes who wish to explore some of France’s most breathtaking trails. Additionally, teams can participate in La 6000D en relais à 3, where three runners tackle the same challenging course together. This relay format allows groups to share the load while still experiencing the full scope of the trail's beauty and difficulty. The series also includes a marathon variant called 6D Marathon on August 1, covering an impressive distance of 43 kilometers with 2,100 meters in elevation gain. Starting at Plagne Centre and finishing in Aime at noon, this race is ideal for those looking to challenge themselves over the longest single-day run. With each event offering unique terrain features and breathtaking views, the Alpine Trail Series provides a diverse set of challenges that cater to all levels of runners while immersing them in the natural beauty of the French Alps.
