On Sunday, October 18, 2026, the "Race of Space" will take place in Toulouse's Grande Plaine Park, located near the Cité de l'Espaced. This annual run is organized to raise funds for Enfants du Mékong, an organization dedicated to providing education and support to underprivileged children across Southeast Asia. Enfants du Mékong was founded in 1958 with a mission to ensure that disadvantaged children have access to schooling. The association prioritizes assistance for ethnic minorities, slum-dwelling children, young girls, refugees, disabled children, and isolated communities in six countries: Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, Laos, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Since its inception, Enfants du Mékong has evolved continuously to meet the needs of these vulnerable populations. The organization's efforts have positively impacted nearly 24,000 sponsored children and over 95,000 supported children annually who are now able to receive education thanks to their initiatives. For four consecutive years, Enfants du Mékong has been recognized with the IDEAS Label for demonstrating best practices in governance, finance, and evaluation. The proceeds from this year's "Race of Space" will go directly towards supporting one or more projects aimed at improving the lives of children in Southeast Asia. In 2025, thanks to participant contributions and sponsorships, Enfants du Mékong was able to fund two significant initiatives: providing sports support for Karen students attending Pa Mak School in Thailand and renovating a girls' shelter in Pakse's city center in Laos. Participants will enjoy the scenic beauty of Toulouse’s Grande Plaine Park as they run through this unique course, which offers an engaging blend of terrain and atmosphere. The event promises to be not only challenging but also rewarding for runners who are committed to making a difference in the lives of children across Southeast Asia.
