La Nocturne du Lièvre et la Tortue

Join the Association du Lièvre et la Tortue for their annual Nocturne du Lièvre et la Tortue on November 14th, setting off at Maisse under the starlit sky. This unique night adventure invites both swift Hares and patient Turtles to immerse themselves in a thrilling trail run through the heart of Essonne's dense forest.
The event features a challenging 19-kilometer course with 420 meters of elevation gain, winding its way across rugged terrain that will test even the most seasoned trail runners. The route is predominantly made up of singletrack paths weaving between ancient trees and rocky outcrops, offering an authentic experience for those who crave natural trails.
As twilight descends, participants are encouraged to wear headlamps as they navigate this new and wild course filled with twists and turns that challenge both body and mind. While the majority of the route is steep and technical, there are also stretches on flatter ground where runners can pick up their pace before tackling more demanding sections.
The race starts promptly at 5:30 PM from the Centre Culturel Robert Dumas in Maisse, providing a scenic backdrop for this unforgettable night run. Before or after your effort, take part in the Saint Catherine's Festival, which takes place right in the heart of the village and offers an array of local products and crafts.
To round off the evening on a high note, all participants are treated to a hearty buffet at the finish line where they can celebrate their achievement with fellow runners over a feast that highlights regional flavors.
