About the Event

Experience the thrill of racing through Wompatuck State Park, where history and nature blend seamlessly. This premier mountain bike race offers four distinct courses: 25 miles for seasoned racers seeking an epic challenge; 12.4 miles for those looking to push their limits but with a bit more distance; 5.75 miles for intermediate riders; and the exhilarating 3.3-mile course, perfect for beginners or casual cyclists. The Little Racers Quarter Mile is also available for younger participants.
The race begins on the South Shore of Boston, in Hingham, where you'll be greeted by a diverse trail network that showcases Wompatuck’s rich history. Originally part of the lands owned by Chief Josiah Wompatuck and later used as grazing grounds and even a military compound during World War II, this course offers an unforgettable journey through time.
As you pedal along, prepare to navigate rocky terrain, roots, berms, and minimal pavement sections—each providing unique challenges that will test your skills. The route takes you past remnants of the park’s history, including old bunkers, blasting walls, railway beds, and stone walls, making every mile a story waiting to be discovered.
The race atmosphere is electric with over 650 participants taking part in various categories. Mass starts ensure a dynamic start line, creating an exhilarating environment that propels you forward from the very beginning. Whether you’re racing for fun or competition, there’s something here for everyone.
Family-friendly and inclusive, Landmine welcomes racers of all ages and abilities. With multiple course options and class divisions, it's easy to find your perfect distance. The race is organized by a dedicated team that ensures everything runs smoothly from registration through the finish line.
Volunteers play a crucial role in making this event special. From maintaining trails throughout the year to staffed feed zones with water, snacks, first aid, and bike repair tools, every detail is thoughtfully planned for your enjoyment. Registration fees support Wompatuck State Park's upkeep, ensuring that future generations can enjoy these beautiful trails.
For those under 18, registration comes at half price or more, making this event accessible to families looking to explore mountain biking together. All proceeds benefit the Friends of Wompatuck State Park and their mission to maintain and improve park facilities for everyone’s enjoyment.
Navigating to the race is straightforward once you reach Hingham's Union Street entrance. Follow signs from there to your starting point, ensuring a smooth journey into the heart of this historic park.
