On September 6, 2026, the eighth edition of the Effiat Run returns to offer runners both a competitive challenge and an opportunity for community involvement. The race is organized by A.S.Effiat at their versatile venue, providing participants with scenic routes along local roads.
The event features two main distances: a timed 5K run starting promptly at 9:00 AM followed by the more challenging 10K race which begins at 9:45 AM. Both races are open to runners aged 16 and above for the longer distance, while those as young as 14 can participate in the shorter event.
In addition to these adult categories, a one-kilometer fun run for children is scheduled at noon, adding an element of family-friendly entertainment to the day's activities. Participants will gather and depart from the multipurpose hall located in Effiat, where they'll also collect their race numbers on the morning of the event.
Safety measures are taken seriously with proof of physical fitness (PPS) required for all runners. Refreshments won't be far off as food trucks and a refreshment stand will be available throughout the day to keep everyone fueled up during or after their runs. To further enhance the experience, showers will also be provided on-site.
A unique feature of this year's event is its charitable aspect: every runner who collects their race number contributes one euro towards supporting research for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Charcot disease through a donation initiative tied to each dossard.
