LES 12 KM DE LA TRISOMIE 21

On Sunday, November 16, 2026, the community of Chauray will host the 16th edition of the Trisomie 21 12 km race. This annual event is a significant fundraiser for the Deux-Sèvres Association for Down Syndrome and aims to raise awareness about trisomy 21 and intellectual disabilities while fostering connections between people with different backgrounds.
The day will feature several activities, including adult races over 12 kilometers, children's races, and walking events covering both 6 km and 12 km routes. All participants will start from the Trévins sports complex in Chauray and enjoy a scenic course that winds through town streets and nearby countryside paths.
For this year’s edition, organizers have introduced an innovative route for runners while maintaining the same path for walkers but in the opposite direction. This change aims to provide fresh challenges and experiences for participants while ensuring everyone can contribute meaningfully regardless of their pace or ability level.
The event is not just a race; it's an opportunity for people with intellectual disabilities to interact closely with athletes, breaking down barriers between these communities that rarely intersect otherwise.
