The Foulées aux 4 Couleurs – A Virtual Run for Hope is an inspiring initiative born from the spirit of solidarity to support those affected by Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Charcot's disease. This debilitating neurodegenerative condition leads to a progressive degeneration of motor neurons, making voluntary movements increasingly difficult over time. Activities such as walking, writing, speaking, swallowing, and breathing become more challenging until they eventually cease, while cognitive abilities remain largely intact. In France alone, approximately 1,600 new cases are diagnosed each year – nearly five individuals daily. Sadly, a similar number of lives is lost every day due to the condition’s rapid progression; life expectancy after diagnosis averages three to five years, with respiratory failure being the primary cause of death. In response to this urgent need for support and awareness, Courir pour Mutti was established. The association aims to fund scientific research into ALS by raising money to better understand the disease and promote the development of effective treatments, as there is currently no cure available. Additionally, it seeks to raise public awareness through inclusive events that break down barriers surrounding this often misunderstood illness. The inaugural Foulées aux 4 Couleurs event was a resounding success, with nearly 120 participants from across France’s 13 regions coming together to collect over €1,500 for the French ALS Association (ARSLA). Building on that momentum, the second edition of this virtual run is set to take place between September 19 and 27, 2026. Participants are invited to lace up their shoes or hit the trails at any time during these dates from wherever they choose. The event features a 10 km route open to runners and walkers alike, offering an inclusive platform for individuals of all fitness levels to contribute towards a meaningful cause. The registration fee is €15, with €10 going directly to ARSLA to support both research efforts and the care provided to those living with ALS. Join this year’s Foulées aux 4 Couleurs to share your energy and generosity in solidarity with those battling one of medicine's most challenging conditions. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or simply enjoy an afternoon stroll, every step counts towards making strides against ALS. Participate now and help create hope for the future.
