Lilla Atea Kalmarmilen

Lilla Atea Kalmarmilen invites runners of all ages to experience the vibrant atmosphere and historic charm of Kalmar. The race begins at Larmtorget, where participants will start their journey through the heart of the city. From there, they'll make their way around the City Library towards Västerportsbron before heading onto Norra Långgatan for a brief stretch.
The route then turns into Kaggensgatan and continues on Storgatan until reaching the finish line back at Larmtorget after covering 1200 meters. This course offers runners an up-close look at Kalmar's architectural highlights, including its well-preserved cell grave near the library.
For younger participants, a mini class race of 400 meters starts from Kalmar Teater and follows Östra Vallgatan before connecting to the main youth track. The event kicks off with heats for different age groups:
- At 17:15, P7/F7 (born in 2017-2018) will take the starting line.
- Following at 17:30 are the P9/F9 runners born between 2015 and 2016.
- The next heat begins promptly at 17:45 for P11/F11 (born in 2013-2014).
- Finally, the day concludes with the P13/F13 race starting at 18:00 for those born between 2010 and 2011.
Each heat promises a thrilling display of youthful energy as participants navigate through familiar streets, cheered on by enthusiastic spectators. The event is designed to showcase not only athletic prowess but also the community spirit that defines Kalmar's sporting traditions.
