Lord of the Hill

About the Event

Dare to ascend the formidable heights of Lord Hill Regional Park and vie for supremacy as you compete in the unique Last Person Standing format known as "Lord of the Hill." This challenging race, set against the backdrop of Western Washington's lush landscape, features a 0.8-mile loop that packs an intense elevation gain of 233 feet into one relentless climb.
The course begins alongside the old quarry with a nearly flat stretch before the ascent kicks in. Participants must summon all their strength to conquer the steep incline leading up to the summit. The descent offers a brief respite, allowing racers to make up time on the downhill switchbacks through dense forest trails, only to face another small rise near the finish line.
The race format is designed to test endurance and strategy: starting with an 18-minute lap, each subsequent lap shrinks by one minute until reaching 15 minutes. From there, laps decrease in 30-second increments. Every participant receives a custom canvas banner as their personal coat-of-arms, which will be used throughout the event to track competitors' progress.
Upon crossing the finish line within the allotted time, racers are awarded points based on how quickly they complete each lap. The final victor is crowned during an elaborate coronation ceremony and presented with a bespoke 3D-printed crown as a symbol of their triumph. If no racer completes the last lap in time, the previous fastest completion determines the winner.
The race takes place amidst stunning natural beauty and offers participants ample opportunity to explore Lord Hill Regional Park's extensive trail network after the competition concludes. Competitors are encouraged to dress in medieval attire for an added touch of festivity, while also being prepared for variable weather conditions typical of early autumn in Western Washington.
A variety of amenities ensure a comfortable race day experience: water stations await at both the start line and summit, providing hydration throughout the climb. Registration includes access to exclusive merchandise such as t-shirts available on-site or with pre-order through your entry package.
Join us this October for an unforgettable challenge where only one will reign supreme atop Lord Hill!
