About the Event

On Sunday, November 22, the Trail & Running club Utrechtse Heuvelrug will host the sixth edition of the Maarten Maartens Trailrun. The race offers three distances: 6 kilometers, 10 kilometers, and a challenging 20-kilometer course. Participants can choose to start their journey from Landgoed Zonheuvel in Doorn on the picturesque Utrechtse Heuvelrug.
The event kicks off with packet pickup beginning at noon, allowing racers to collect their numbers until fifteen minutes before each race starts. The 20-kilometer trail run begins promptly at 1:15 PM and covers two laps through stunning Kaapse Bossen. At 1:30 PM, the 10-kilometer course takes off, followed by a shorter but equally scenic 6-kilometer route starting just fifteen minutes later.
The race courses are largely unpaved with clear signage along the way to guide runners through the forested areas of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. While there is no electronic timing system in place, participants can check their finishing times against a large clock at the finish line. The first three male and female finishers will be awarded prizes courtesy of race sponsors.
After crossing the finish line, racers are invited to enjoy refreshments at the post-race station located near Maarten Maartenshuis on Landgoed Zonheuvel. For those tackling the longer 20-kilometer route, a mid-point hydration and nutrition stop is available along the course—be sure to bring your own trail cup for this service.
Registration remains open until November 19, giving runners ample time to secure their spot in what promises to be an unforgettable day out on the trails.
