Running through the scenic landscapes of Champagne-Ardenne, the Marathon du Der offers runners an unforgettable experience on June 13, 2027. Since its inception in 2013, this event has become one of the largest marathons in Grand Est with around 2500 participants and up to 10,000 spectators lining the route.
The marathon course winds along the shores of Lac du Der, France's largest artificial lake. As runners traverse the picturesque lakeside path, they will pass through serene forests and charming villages before reaching Giffaumont Station Balnéaire near the Casino. The highlight for many is the chance to spot Grues cendrées (Common Cranes), a symbol of Lac du Der that often grace the skies above this natural wonder.
This event celebrates not only athletic achievement but also community spirit, with over 200 volunteers supporting participants and spectators alike. The marathon includes challenges for businesses and an inclusive approach towards athletes with disabilities, making it accessible to all who wish to participate or cheer from the sidelines.
The Marathon du Der is more than a race; it's a celebration of camaraderie and local hospitality in one of France’s most beautiful regions.
