MARGAM WILD TRAIL RUNS

About the Event

Get ready to explore the stunning Margam Country Park with the MARGAM WILD TRAIL RUNS, taking place on May 27th, 23/5/27. Nestled in Wales (SA13 2TJ), this event offers runners a chance to experience one of the country's most picturesque parks.
The park is easily accessible via Google Maps or through its unique What3Words address: overt.workers.admire. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just starting out, there are routes for everyone here at Margam Country Park.
For those looking to ease into trail running, the 5km route provides a scenic loop around the historic Castle, offering beautiful views and an easy pace that's perfect for beginners. The 10km course adds some elevation with a steep ascent early on but rewards runners with breathtaking downhill runs once you reach the summit. Participants in the Half Marathon will enjoy all of this plus more as they tackle additional climbs to capture panoramic vistas of Margam Country Park.
Cani-cross enthusiasts are welcome too, with one dog per runner permitted under controlled conditions. Be mindful that parts of both the 10km and half marathon routes feature rocky descents and gravel paths which may present challenges for your furry friend.
Race day starts bright and early: the Half Marathon begins at 9:30 am followed by the 10km race also starting at 9:30 am, while the 5km runners will take off shortly after at 9:45 am. All participants can look forward to live chip timing provided by RESULTS BASE.NET for accurate results.
Upon crossing the finish line, all runners receive a commemorative event medal and exclusive merchandise from Wild Deer. To top it off, refreshments including drinks and snacks await you in celebration of your achievement.
An optional but highly recommended addition is the purchase of an exclusive MARGAM WILD TRAIL RUNS T-shirt for just £14 when signing up for any distance.
Limited on-site parking will be available at a cost of £4.00, ensuring that runners can easily access the event without worrying about transportation logistics.
This year’s edition promises to be an unforgettable experience with its diverse terrain and stunning natural beauty, making it ideal for all levels of trail runners looking to challenge themselves in Wales' Margam Country Park.

Scenic view of

Margam Country Park is a country park estate in Wales, of around 850 acres (3.4 km2). It is situated in Margam, about 2 miles (3 km) from Port Talbot in south Wales. It was once owned by the Mansel Talbot family and is now owned and administered by the local council, Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council. Situated within the park are three notable buildings: Margam Abbey, a Cistercian monastery; Margam Castle, a neo-Gothic country house that was once the seat of the Mansel Talbot family; and the 18th-century Orangery. There is also evidence of the largest Roman villa in Wales. The park is designated Grade I on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales.
