The Murder Mile

About the Event

Welcome to the Murder Mile 2026! This one-mile challenge may seem simple at first glance, but it's been recognized by Runner’s World as one of the Top 10 Hardest Races. The course is notorious for its undulating terrain and has attracted runners from all over who are eager to test their limits.
The current male record stands at an impressive 7 minutes and 49 seconds, set by Jacob Tasker of Ogmore Phoenix Runners, while Ceri Merwood of C.D.F holds the female title with a time of 9 minutes and 37 seconds. Both records come with a £30 cash prize for anyone who can break them.
Participants must be at least 11 years old on race day to take part in this grueling event. Entry fees are set at £7.50 for affiliated runners and £9.50 for non-affiliated competitors, along with a small booking charge. The UKA Race Licence has been applied for to ensure the race meets all necessary standards.
Race HQ is located at Pen Rhiwarwydd Farm, where you’ll find parking and bag storage facilities upon arrival. Registration will take place here as well, allowing runners to collect their numbers before heading out onto the challenging course.
After crossing the finish line, participants receive an age-appropriate refreshment from a generous sponsor. The race award ceremony follows at The Church Inn in Mynyddislwyn, where prizes are awarded for first-place male and female competitors, as well as junior runners under 16 years old.
With limited spots available, early registration is highly recommended to secure your place before entries close on August 27th, 2026. No day-of registrations will be accepted due to safety considerations and planning requirements.
All abilities are welcome at the Murder Mile, but please note that this course is not suitable for wheelchair athletes. During registration, participants will provide a predicted race time which helps us position our volunteers effectively throughout the event.
Once registered, cancellations or deferrals cannot be accommodated; however, you may transfer your entry to another runner through Entry Central before the deadline. No headphones except bone conducting ones are allowed during the run for safety reasons.
By entering, participants agree that personal information including name, affiliation (if any), race times, and age category can be shared with governing bodies or affiliated organizations for insurance purposes, licensing requirements, or result publication.
