Markfield 10K

Markfield 10K presents an exclusive opportunity for members of Leicestershire Road Running League (LRRL) clubs to challenge themselves along a scenic and undulating route through the villages of Markfield and Thornton. Scheduled for Sunday, September 27th, 2026, this event is designed exclusively for LRRL-affiliated runners aged 16 years or older.
The race begins at South Charnwood High School on Broad Lane in Markfield, Leicestershire (LE67 9TB), with registration opening promptly at 8:00am. Participants will collect their numbered bibs and chips from the designated desk for distribution within their clubs. The official start time is set for 9:00am.
The course itself is a single lap, totaling 10 kilometers, weaving through charming villages and past a picturesque reservoir. Marshals line the route to ensure safety and provide direction at every turn. Water stations are strategically placed along the way, offering hydration at the 6km mark, with additional refreshments available post-race.
Parking for participants is provided within South Charnwood High School grounds only; car sharing is encouraged (minimum of three people per vehicle) due to limited space and restrictions on surrounding roads and areas. The school parking lot will remain closed until race completion but reopens at 10:30am, allowing ample time for clean-up.
Race day amenities include a designated area for club tents within the field, as well as accessible toilets with additional urinals available throughout the grounds. To ensure everyone's safety and enjoyment, headphones are strictly prohibited during the event due to potential hazards, including bone conduction models; violators will face disqualification.
