Experience the breathtaking landscapes of Michaux State Forest at the Franklin County Cyclists' MICHAUX GRVL 2026. This year, four distinct routes offer cyclists a unique blend of scenic views and challenging terrain, perfect for every skill level. The event kicks off with the Explorer Course, a 15-mile journey through diverse forest trails, offering a taste of what's to come. For those seeking something more substantial, the Short Course will take you on a 43.5-mile adventure, featuring two aid stations at strategic mile markers for essential respite. The Long Course stretches over 65 miles with an elevation gain of 6,400 feet, ensuring a memorable challenge. Cyclists embarking on this route can expect to find support at the Big Flat and Pine Grove Furnace Aid Stations before reaching Caledonia State Park. The Expert Course challenges even the most seasoned riders, covering 100 miles with three aid stations—mile markers 22, 49, and 74. Participants should note that all routes are rain or shine events without refunds for cancellations due to weather conditions. Front and rear lights are mandatory for safety reasons on all courses. Race organizers recommend using gravel bikes equipped with tires of at least 35mm width, especially in sections where the terrain can be rough. While GPS files and cue sheets will be available online, cyclists are encouraged to rely on their devices as course markings may vary due to natural factors. Packet pick-up is scheduled for Friday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Michaux Brewing Co., located at 11657 Buchanan Trail E in Waynesboro. Day-of packet pickup will be available but strongly recommended for those opting for the 100-mile route. Timing and aid stations are crucial elements of this event, with strict cutoff times enforced to ensure the safety of all participants. Big Flat Aid Station closes at noon, Pine Grove Furnace Aid Station by 1:30 PM, Teaberry Mini Station (for the 100-mile course) by 2:00 PM, and US30 Cutoff for the same route also by 1:30 PM. The finish line will close no later than 4:30 PM. Route markers along each path are clearly visible with specific colors denoting the courses, while GPS files can be accessed online to aid navigation. Post-ride refreshments await at a Food Truck serving from noon until 4:00 PM, and participants aged 21+ will receive two free beers courtesy of Michaux Brewing Co. A scavenger hunt adds an exciting twist with tokens hidden throughout the forest for those who wish to find them. Franklin County Cyclists members are encouraged to wear their club kits for a unified look on race day. Merchandise from Pactimo, including bright orange/red jerseys and vests, will be available until July 30th, benefiting the local non-profit organization. Safety is paramount; cyclists must respect other riders and motorists while following road rules diligently. A stop light at mile marker 28 and two US Highway crossings for 100-mile participants are key points to note. Podium ceremonies await in various categories—15 miles (open only to U18s), 45 miles, 65 miles, and the grueling 100-mile route. Prizes will be awarded to top three finishers in each category, with an exclusive Michaux GRVL trophy for winners. For more information or assistance, contact organizers directly. Enjoy this adventure through Pennsylvania's natural beauty while supporting a worthy cause!
