Experience the grandeur of endurance running along Volusia County's picturesque trails with the 6th Annual Monroe Cross Trail 50 Mile Ultra. This epic point-to-point race begins at Rotary Park in Edgewater, Florida, and winds its way through a stunning network of paved multi-use paths to Central 28 Beer Company in DeBary. The route is meticulously crafted over five distinct trails, offering runners an immersive journey across diverse landscapes. Starting from the heart of Edgewater, participants will traverse the East Regional Rail Trail towards Deltona before shifting onto the Spring-to-Spring Trail through Gemini Springs and Lake Monroe Park. The race then takes a scenic turn along the Riverside Walk Trail alongside Lake Monroe's serene shoreline. With aid stations spaced approximately every 8 to 12 miles apart, runners can expect well-stocked stops throughout their journey. Self-sufficiency is key as participants must carry hydration bottles or packs at all times. For those venturing into nightfall, lights and reflective vests are mandatory for safety reasons; failure to comply will result in disqualification. The race begins promptly at 6:00 AM with a generous cutoff time of 8:00 PM, allowing ample daylight hours for runners to immerse themselves in the beauty of their surroundings. The route's turnaround point is strategically placed around mile marker 44+, ensuring that participants can soak up every moment before heading back towards Central 28 Beer Company. For those not ready to tackle the full 50 miles, there are also options for a 50K and a shorter yet equally challenging 17K race. Both of these events start and finish at the lively atmosphere of Central 28 Beer Co., where post-race festivities await with food, drinks, and cold beer. Upon crossing the finish line, all participants will be rewarded with a beautiful finisher medal or award, while top male and female runners in each category will receive additional prizes. The race is not just about completing the distance; it's an opportunity to connect with fellow athletes and revel in the shared spirit of pushing personal limits. For accommodation needs near Central 28 Beer Company, several hotels are conveniently located within a short drive from the finish line, ensuring participants can rest up before their next adventure.
