Experience the vibrant atmosphere of Cobourg's Turkey Trot, an annual family-friendly event that supports local community initiatives through the YMCA Strong Communities Campaign. This year’s edition promises to be just as exciting and inclusive as ever, with races tailored for all ages. The fun kicks off early on Monday, October 12, 2026, at 8:30 am when race day registration begins at the YMCA Northumberland located at 339 Elgin St W. Warm-up sessions are offered to get participants ready for their run with a Y leader guiding them through some dynamic stretches. For younger ones aged four and under, there’s the Gobble Wobble activity from 9:20 am, filled with surprises that will delight both kids and adults alike. The Wing Ding 1K Kids Fun Run follows at 9:30 am, where participants of all ages can enjoy a fun, untimed race. Finishers receive medals and small treats, making it a memorable experience for everyone. The main event features the Gobbler 5K Run and 2.5K Walk/Run from 10:10 am onwards. The course winds through Cobourg’s urban green spaces, offering uneven terrain with some rolling hills but predominantly covered in grassy paths. Participants will find themselves running or walking amidst lush landscapes that showcase the best of local flora. A special surprise awaits top finishers across various categories including male and female participants aged 18 and under, as well as those over 19 years old. Don’t miss out on the Golden Drumstick Award for demonstrating exceptional turkey spirit in your costume! Post-race festivities include an awards ceremony at 11:20 am to recognize top performers with a chance to win additional prizes. Dress up in your best Halloween-themed attire or simply add some festive touches to your race gear. The event encourages creativity, so feel free to showcase your inner turkey through costumes that might even earn you the Golden Drumstick Award for best costume/ turkey spirit. For families seeking an inclusive experience, a 25% discount is available with family registration done in one transaction using code FAMILY25 at checkout. A family consists of two adults and up to four children aged 18 or younger. Remember that dogs are welcome but must be leashed during the event; strollers should remain off the course for safety reasons, making the 2.5K Run/Walk an ideal choice for carrying smaller children in a backpack or sling style carrier. Sign up early this year to avoid disappointment and join us for what promises to be another unforgettable Turkey Trot!
