This year's race is not just about running or walking through beautiful Washington Park Arboretum; it’s an opportunity to contribute directly to your community by supporting the University District Food Bank.
The event takes place on November 26, 2026, offering participants a chance to experience the stunning natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. As you traverse the winding trails and serene ponds within Washington Park Arboretum, surrounded by towering trees cloaked in vibrant autumn foliage, every step brings you closer not only to personal achievement but also to making a tangible difference.
The race course weaves through paths that are home to centuries-old giants adorned with leaves of gold, crimson, and orange. The landscape is punctuated by tranquil ponds and meandering creeks, creating an idyllic setting for runners and walkers alike. This year’s event promises not only breathtaking scenery but also a deeper connection to the community it serves.
Participants should be aware that dogs are not permitted on race day due to safety concerns dictated by insurance regulations. However, strollers are welcome if you start at the back of the corral to avoid impeding faster runners. Given the potential for muddy trails and damp conditions common in late autumn, we recommend using a sturdy stroller designed to handle varied terrain.
The University District Food Bank has been an essential pillar of food security for nearly four decades, serving over 123,000 households and more than 368,000 individuals in 2025 alone. This represents an astounding 80% increase from the past four years, highlighting the growing need for support within Northeast Seattle.
Your participation in the Montlake Turkey Trot helps fund critical services like home delivery to over 550 households weekly and weekend food packs provided through Packs for Kids at multiple schools across Seattle. Additionally, satellite pantries serve hundreds more families every week, while nutritious meals are distributed daily via Apple a Day Café.
