Set against the picturesque backdrop of Oxford, Maine, Moxie's Memorial 5k Trail Run/Walk is an inspiring journey through scenic trails to support Mission Working Dogs. This annual race not only celebrates the legacy of Moxie, a beloved dog who inspired the founding of this non-profit organization dedicated to providing service dogs for those in need within their community.
The event kicks off and concludes at Oxbow Beer Garden, offering participants an engaging route that begins along the Anne's Moon Dance blue ski trail. The course then ventures up towards Mission Working Dogs' training center via a specially designed connector path known as Moxie’s Place before returning to the starting point for a well-deserved finish line celebration.
Race day promises more than just athletic achievement; it includes perks such as commemorative t-shirts for the first 200 in-person participants at check-in. Racegoers can also purchase Mission Working Dogs merchandise, supporting their mission further beyond the event itself.
Safety and liability regulations ensure that only properly trained service dogs are permitted on the race course to maintain a secure environment for all attendees. For those over 21 years of age who register in person, there is an exclusive offer: one beer ticket redeemable at Oxbow Beer Garden during the day of the event. The brewery’s kitchen will open early at 11 am, providing participants with the opportunity to refuel and relax with pizza and drinks post-race.
